biggest lure/smallest fish
The weather is getting good here -- 70F today, and we've had a few nights well above freezing. This means the fish are moving in towards the bank, and I was able to take advantage today.
I fished a shallow cove off the main lake that's 4ft deep max within casting distance. At first hardly any bites, and I only pulled one small largemouth in a half hour. Things changed once I switched over to a 2g white roostertail. Juvenile bass must have been patrolling the shoreline for prey mimicked by the rooster tail, because I pulled around 10 of them (all 8-10") and a 7" crappie in no time.
As dusk deepened I switched to 1.5" popper after seeing some surface action. The popper is a little bigger than what I'd normally throw with the Iprimi, but I figured I'd give it a shot since it was the only floater on hand. First cast and pulled the little bluegill in pic below whose stomach was clearly larger than his mouth!
Successful trip overall, and the winter skunk is truly shook.
