3-11-25 Meet Up-Micro Rock Fishing
I met up with my fishing buddy today at noon with nice weather ; low 70’s by the time we headed home just before four .
Our plans was to do some Micro Rock Fishing ; jigging the riprap around the boat ramps .
I used my 3.8mm and 4mm tungsten handtied micro jigs in mostly dark olive and black , and my bud used 1/64 Trout Magnets , primarily Sowbug color .
I took four combos , used three , a different rod at each of the three locations we fished .
Two 6’ TFO UL’s , my Pastime T&P , and my T&P II , and a 5’5” Daiwa Ajing rod .
All were paired with Shimano Soare 500 reels , one a XR500spg and a couple of bb500spg’s . Line used was 2# Floroclear .
All three rods performed equally great .
My bud used a 6’6” St Croix Triumph Light rod and I believe a Pflueger reel.
I ended up with three bluegills and twenty two green sunfish of varied sizes . From micros to fatties . :) .
My bud had a better day this week with seventeen total , mostly green sunfish of varied.
The bluegills , especially the larger ones are still hanging out in deeper water .
The rain the last couple of days and the low temp last night of 40 didn’t help in the movement of panfish .
We both caught more the second couple hours than we did the first couple.
Can’t wait to get back at them next week .
I included a picture shot through my sunglasses lens of one of the catching areas I fished today . Each dark crack and hole has the potential to hold a green sunfish. .
