I wanted to try out the 5’8” Major Craft Aji do with Daiwa braid , especially with light micro jigs .
I left home around 11:15 and planned on fishing an hour at the docks at the local water reservoir.
It was partly cloudy , warm , upper 60’s , but the wind returned , from the west. Blowing into the bank at the docks , but most of my fishing was going to be concentrated on the inside of the docks in the 45-50’ strip of water between the dock and the shore .
I was micro fishing .
I tried serval jigs for the first forty five minutes or so with five or six short strikers .
I was mainly using size 10 hooks .
Digging around in what jig boxes I’d taken , I found an olive chenille and rabbit fur jig tied on a size 12 fly nymph hook with a 4mm Tungsten bead .
I could easily put the little jig next the brush along the bank . 40-50’ casts .
Time was almost up , so I went back to an area where I caught four on Tuesday afternoon.
Boom ! I got the skunk off .
The little gill put a nice bend in the Aji do , mostly in the top third , and the rod with braid made the fish feel bigger than it was .
I could catch these little guys all day and be a happy fisherman.
I fished a little while longer than planned , not much though .
When I check the times on my pictures it had taken me seven minutes to catch , take a picture and release six fish .
I’ll take that any day . :)
BTW , the rod performed great with the braid .
