Where I fish won’t tolerate the light mono, or maybe I’m just too heavy handed. Lots of folks use the two point sumthin twitch master. I have used it and it casts like no other mono I’ve ever had. The goldish color is easy for me to pick up on. I’m used to 4lb or a little better braid so it’s no surprise to me that I broke it a few times. I still have some on a couple of rods and mostly use it for search baits like the rooster tail and beetle spin. Like I said, it casts well. I have to remember when I use it or I’ll be out in the woods. Keep us posted.

I tried Ester and it was just too stiff for me and didn’t cast as good as my p line .
The VARIVAS Super Trout Advance has got my eye in 2# also.
I got to looking around on my line shelf and found a couple lines I hadn’t used in years and thought I’d give them a try .
Both are 2# test , but one looks about half the diameter of the other one .
The larger one is fluorescent green , it a one pound spool of Viscious mono .
The other one is a 1/8# spool of Ande Tournament Green . That stuff is fine . I used to use Ande lines before I discovered P-line .
That was when 4# test was my line of choice and the P-line casts farther and wasn’t as stiff .
The Tournament green is guaranteed to not to test over the stated pound test . It use to be used to establish a lot of line weight records , both fresh and saltwater.
The Ande maybe the line for my micro jigs .
I spooled up a Shimano Soare bb500spg with it and put it on a 5’ Daiwa Trout X XUL .
Hope to test it out tomorrow.
If I’m gonna fish mono, which is not my line of choice, I will use Varivas Twitch Master in [emoji639]# test. And I have one rod with some [emoji640]# on it for fishing the White River. It is a very low stretch nylon. Casting is great and knot strength is great.

Thanks folks , for the insight on lines .
I got to do a little testing of lines today as I visited three of my fishing holes . Including two lakes and a creek .
I got to compare two monofilaments , and a couple of Daiwa J-braids .
The monos were 2# Viscious and 2# Ande Tournament green .
The braids were both 6# Daiwa J-braids , one was the Island blue Grand , the other was, chartreuse regular X8 J-braid . Both with three pound test Floroclear leaders .
Jigs used were size #12 3mm tungsten jigs , 4mm and 4.6mm Tungsten jigs .
None of the monofilament lines impressed me , with the Ande being the better of the two .
But both Daiwa braids out performed the monofilaments in casting and feel . Even with the .35g 3mm jigs .
The reels with their loaded lines were swapped between the rods to see if the rod made that big of difference.
The braids still won .
The winning rods , for casting distance, were , the 5’ Major Craft Aji do Ajing , and a 5’4” old model St Croix Panfish series.
The other rods weren’t losers , they just didn’t cast as far as the other two .
Braid has its faults , but I’m finding it hard to go back to mono after fishing with braid , head to head .
Glad I saved the braid I pulled off my reels , something I can’t do with mono .
I hand wound iron a large line spool and it was easy to spool back onto my reels .
BTW , I caught one crappie , a tiny redbreast , and a couple bluegill during my testing .
These were in areas where were void of fish last week . The fish are beginning to move back to the banks .
I’ve only fished Ande line in 80# test[emoji23] For my first 10 years in Saudi fishing the Red Sea and Persian Gulf it was the only line available in the market. It worked out good. The last 11 years there fished other lines and fished a lot of braid.Quote:

Some smaller diameter braids
The Daiwa J braids I’m using are 6# breaking strength, 1.5# diameter.
I’ve compared the listed diameter with 4x Varivas braids and they’re about the same diameter. I’ll look them up again and post .
I’m sure there’s some smaller out there .
Could be I’ve found the best I’m going to find without going up in jig weight , and that would defeat my purpose of using micro jigs .
It’ll be warmer soon and I’ll break out the flyrods . They’ll cast the tiny jigs . :)
Varivas has several braids in the 0.2 gou rating. Which is about 5 pounds. I think you can buy some braid in 0.1 gou rating which breaks at around 4# but I’ve never seen any that small. Not sure I could even see it with a diameter of 0.053mm. I have trouble seeing the 0.2 gou at 0.074mm.Quote:

I fish Lake Barkley and regularly encounter redear that exceed 1.5-2lbs. Last Memorial Day, we caught between 40-50 redear that were 1.5+ pounds. A fish like that can pop line really fast, particularly on their incredible runs and bursts.
I have Twitch Master in the 3lb variety and it doesn't hold these big fish nearly as well as SOS 2LB mono line. We caught 4 redear last year over 2lbs with the biggest 2.5lbs. The 2lb SOS will absolutely land these fish. I also recently bought 2lb Ande line and so far am impressed!
