Who uses 1/4 oz jigs for Crappie ?

What a morning, poured down a few times. Made a new trash jig in 1/4 oz with 1/0 hook yesterday. The fish gave their thumbs up. 😉 Kept at limit (30) and only 1 under 12''. Just had to go looking at the forecast next week . All roamers and most were about 20' deep . CA Douglas
The new 1/4 oz trash jig is 2 1/2 '' long. Tied on a 1/4 oz insert lead head with 1/0 hook . Wrapped with white thread and Walmart sack. Fish ate it with no trouble . Still can't understand why so many uses tiny jigs.

I use 1/4 or 1/8 when it’s real windy or in current.

I never use anything smaller than 1/8 oz with #2 hook. When I use 1/4 oz, I like big #1/0 hook.:twocents

I use a lot of 1/16 heads because an 1/8 swing to fast a lot of times unless the wind is blowing strong.

I have some 3/16 jig heads with #2 hooks I make hand ties with. I use them when fishing water deeper than 18ft.

I do if I am am in a boat with a live scope fella sometimes
But even then most use a peg weight and then the jig weight isn’t important after that big egg goes down

This is just the thread I needed to see. So you used a tube jighead and wrapped and painted it, with pieces of a Walmart bag trailing behind it?

No just wrap thread over hook and lead. Super glue then fold up sack and fold over whole thing them wrap more thread and super glue to make it hold . No paint at all.
