I've only fished with minnows under a float so going to try adding to a jig head and slowly reeling in. Live/fresh dead minnows will generally catch larger fish than artificial. Only problem is my local bait shop shutdown so Ill have to get the little rosy reds from petsmart. Probably put on a tube

Not so sure live bait always catches bigger fish . We only use jigs . But if your setup for a bait tank there are fish farms in Arkansas that ship . Anderson Minnow Farm. I believe they have minimum orders.

Jigs are definitely more convenient and certainly catch big fish, but on average I would pick live for the bigguns because I think big fish are smarter and harder to fool. Some prefer small minnows, some prefer bass sized 3" and 4" minnows. I think the bass minnows will catch the bigger crappies

Look at the link. It tells what each was caught on. That record is the one caught using that bait.
