Excited
Excited about tomorrow.
Although we’ve had nice weather the last couple of days , I haven’t been fishing .
I’ve been getting my boat ready to take to the lake tomorrow. That and rearranging stuff in the garage so the boat can be rolled out and in without moving bikes , mower, and other items out of the way every time I want to go .
It’s been over a year since the boat has been on the water .
May not catch anything, but it’ll be nice just to get the boat back out .
Weather is supposed to be spectacular. Sunny , mid 70’s , light winds .
My only worry is my batteries. They’re old . One is probably 12 years old but is holding a charge, the other one is over five years old and was at 75% after sitting without its trickle charger today for a couple of hours .
Put the main charger on both batteries and both were at 97% and took a charger for about 30 min before they registered 100% .
I’m headed to my closest reservoir, but the best fishing is going to be all the way back on a big flat where the main creek comes in .
A solid thirty minute+ run at 50% power on the 45# Minn Kota .
Tempted just to play around close the ramp in case the batteries don’t perform. Just have to see how it goes .
Everything is loaded , plan on heading out around 10 tomorrow morning when the temps should be already in the low 60’s . Hoping to spend about four hours on the water.
First solo trip in the boat in years .

Sounds exciting. Good luck!

I’m excited for you, I know the anticipation. I hope that everything goes smooth and a few fish feel dumb.

Nothing like the anticipation. Hope all goes well on the water.

I’m not going to make a new post about my trip .
Except for having a beautiful day to be on the water , I caught a big goose egg .
Not even a nibble.
I did catch three different oak leaves that gave me hope for a few seconds , but that was it .
Had no problem with the batteries even though it took me right at an hour to get where I wanted to fish .
I had to get past a 8-12mph headwind .
I set the trolling motor on 50% , wanting to conserve the battery. The difference in speed past 50% isn’t that much faster anyway . About 1mph .
I found a few on my old Cuda fish finder on some drop offs , but they had lockjaw.
The water temp when I launched was 51 degrees , back in the back on the flat it averaged 55 . Registered 58 a couple of times .
They should have on the flat . Found two schools back there .
Threw Trout magnets and curly tails .
Looking forward to getting the boat back again soon .
