Happy new year guys .
I've never fish at Ross Barnett. Even though I've traveled to the Jackson VA Hospital 4-5 days a week for 15 years. I have a new kayak I'm excited about and would like to give a try. Could you tell me a place or two to get started?. It's a modular kayak that fits in the back of my Prius. So i can drive right up to the lake and put in with no landing. [emoji2]

You'll probably want to try a neighborhood ramp instead of one of the main public ramps due to boat traffic and protection from high winds. Either Ramp in Twin Harbors subdivision in Madison (where I launch most of the time now) or Harbor View in Brandon (39047) (when I lived in Rez Brandon) are good ones to start; you could probably fish them with some wind without heading into the main lake because of docks and other structure between ramp and main lake. Madison Landing, Rankin Landing, Tommy's Trading Post, Brown's Landing, and Pelahatchie Shore Park tend to get busy with both fishing boats and pleasure boats during certain times of the year, and they don't have much protection depending on how the wind blows. I'm not sure how residents in Forrest Point or Audubon Point feel about non-residents putting in those areas, although I know people who have houses in those neighborhoods.
Are any creeks or rivers accessible by kayak?

Yes; try going up the Pearl River from Ratliff Ferry, Pelahatchie Creek from Pelahatchie Bay, or even go down the Pearl River from the Spillway.
There is a lot of folks that kayak above Low Head also. There is a kayak launching dock at Leake Co Water park at the campgrounds. Lots of river and oxbows to explore… just mind the gators.

In the past I hoped there would be a fish n camp at Barnett, maybe at Tommy's. Looking at google earth there is a ramp in the campground. Could fish the east side and the welfare hole at Hwy 43 bridge.
The ramp at Pelahatchie bay would be a good place to start. It's not often crowded and you could fish your way out to the bay. Plenty of docks and such around the edge of the bay to fish as well. While it isn't completely shielded from the wind, it doesn't suffer like the main lake does. Nice folks in the store there as well.

Yes it's a reel yak Rocket fin drive. I'm so proud of it. I can go so many places with it i can't go with my bass tracker .
And it's saving me a ton of money for gas for my truck and boat. It's about having fun right?

Crystal Lake in Jackson/Flowood, Wildcat Brake at Enid, or off HWY7 at Sardis would be great places for you.
