Daiwa Trout X 50xul - line recommendation?
Caught a good deal on the 5' Trout X XUL rod a couple weeks ago ($58!), and it arrived today. My lakes are still iced up, so no dice on trying it out yet.
The rod feels solid, light, and sensitive in hand, and definitely way less "bendy" than my Iprimi XXUL. I'm going to pair with either a Shimano Ultegra 1000FC (6.3oz) or a Piscifun Carbon X II 1000 (5.5oz), both of which I already have. While the Ultegra has the better reputation, the CXII feels like a better balance with the rod overall.
Plan is to throw mainly light jigs and other tiny soft plastics on this setup and use the Iprimi for micro spoons and spinners. I'm multispecies fishing, whatever is biting at the time -- crappie, yellow perch, bluegill and various sunfish, yellow bass (my favorite), largemouth, and (fingers crossed because I haven't landed any yet) smallmouth and wipers.
My question is, what kind of line would you recommend for the Trout X here? I have plenty of 2lb. SOS, but was thinking 2lb. Trilene Sensation copolymer or 4lb. X Braid for a change of pace. I mainly use Trout SOS in 2 or 4lb. on my other UL rigs.
