It was Sunny and upper fifties when I got to the town pond today around 12:15 , but the wind was out of the WNW at 12-20 blowing almost directly into my face on the dam side of the pond.
I only took one rod , a 6’ TFO Trout and Panfish II paired with a new Daiwa Exceler LT 1000d and 2# Floroclear .
Today I had tied on a 1/64 Trout Magnet jighead with a regular , shortened , chartreuse , Trout Magnet body that I blackened the top half black with a Sharpie .
My first cast produced a nice little 10-11” LM bass .
I thought maybe I’ve been missing out not throwing the regular TM lately. The next two bass took twenty minutes casting each to catch .
The wind didn’t help . I tried to time my casts with the wind and was getting from 25’-70’ , depending if I chose the right time . :) .
I landed three , but had three get off with the TM jighead .
I switched over to one of my Tungsten bead micro jigs and a mini TM body and in the next thirty minutes, caught four bass and a bluegill .
I had tried three different colors of regular size TM during the hour I threw the TM jig .
I did lose one bass that came unhooked on the smaller Tungsten jig , but one out of six is better that three out of six and in half the time , fishing the same waters .
beautiful day except for the wind .
I think the weather calendar is off about a month . Looks like we’re headed for March weather in February. That ok with me . I’m tired of cold weather.
It was 66 degrees when I left around 2:45 .
Almost forgot . I checked water temps today .
On the dam side when I first got there , it was 46 degrees . An hour later on the sunny side of the pond , it was 48 degrees .
When I left , the dam side had risen to 52 degrees .
A long ways from the frozen cover the pond had this past weekend.
