Me and my wife are going to Kentucky lake for the first time on end of April. We will be Croppie fishing. If you wouldn’t mind sharing a nice place to stay and close to where I could fish out of my 16 foot aluminum boat. I'd say, if you're totally set on fishing on KY Lake ... you might try Sportsman's Lodge on Jonathan Creek.
( sportsmans-lodge.com – Sportsmans Lodge on Kentucky Lake ) There you'll have all of Jonathan Creek to fish and be out of any heavy waves from wind or large boat traffic.
If you were to consider fishing Barkley Lake, instead ... I'd say Fish Island Resort for lodging, as it's a short drive to Barkley State Resort Park ramp and you'd have the entire Little River to fish.
I go every year end of March or first of April. Sportsman’s has always done right by me. This year makes my [emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]th year going and I have never left the Johnathon creek area to fish. I have a [emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]] ft metal boat and no problems fishing there. I would suggest you make that phone call to sportsman’s pretty soon if your wanting to stay there. Good luck and safe fishing.
Lynnhurst Family Resort is nice. It’s on Blood River, has a restaurant as well. Ramp is steep and if the lake is low can make launching a challenge.
If you go to Jonathan, be aware that it's big and can get very rough. If the wind is right trying to load a boat at the public ramp can be dangerous.
It probably would behoove him to launch at the Sportsman's Lodge Marina launch ramp, as it's pretty well protected ... being back behind the boat slips, in that pocket.Quote:
