My new 6’ TFO Pastime sliming
After striking out before lunch today , I got another opportunity to properly slime my new rod , a TFO 6’ Pastime Trout and Panfish ULF . Paired with a Shimano Soare XR500sspg and 2# Floroclear.
After about a 40 minute trip to the Town pond this evening, I think I may have found my dream rod I’ve been looking for.
Fishing with a 4.0mm tungsten jig (.5g) with a Mini Trout Magnet , I was getting an average sixty feet casting distance and that’s with an occasional light wind blowing into my face .
Casting wasn’t the only plus for this new rod I’ve been, sensitivity enough I could feel contact with the approximately jighead as it twitched along the bottom.
Even the light taps of the LM bass I caught was easily detected.
Bass , especially in cold water , don’t provide the hit like panfish do . They sneak up and suck in the jig and most of the time you feel a loss of contact that telegraphs something has grabbed the jig .
With a fish on , the rod has a sweet bend to it and even though cold water bass don’t pull like they do in warmer water , a fun fight was felt .
I like the grip , it’s very comfortable, even with cold fingers .
I think TFO has a winner here , but I need to compare it to my 6’ TFO T&P II , equipped with the same equipment as the Pastime .
I caught six total . Actual fishing time was about thirty minutes. I caught my first fish at 4:27 and the last one at 4:55 .
Thanks to the LM bass for saving the day !
Snow predicted tomorrow. Going be a few days before I can get back out there l
