Sally hansen

I have a lot of sally Hanson’s hard as nails around here from tying jigs for 30 years or so, just wondering has anyone ever tried to use it to hold plastics on a jig head, you know like superglue.

I never tried it but I can see it working for such a purpose. I buy the little tiny multi-pack of super glue tubes from the Dollar Tree store. You get six tubes for $1.25.

I use a bigger tube from harbor freight, and it sets up in the tube before I can use it all, just looking for a more cost efficient glue that would not setup in the exit tube of glue bottle. I know, I know 1.25 at dollar tree is pretty cost efficient.

Loctite super glue gel control is my go to.

The problem with the super glues is they clog after a few times of use regardless what the pkgs say. The tiny ones from Dollar Tree are cost effective and waste very little glue since the tubes are so small.

Yeah, that's what I used. The tubes of glue were great for the first few trips, but tended to dry out at the top fairly quickly, rendering them useless before they were half used up.

I never glue on a plastic , never seen a good reason for it myself , tears up the plastic when you want to change it anyway
and sides all that the half second to straighten it up on the hook between fish is me no matter what , it is almost rarer than a hen with teeth for me to pitch any offering in the water without a look at it first , just saying
use the hard as nails to paint the jighead is my take :Rofl

Yeah I could definitely see how the glue would dry out if used while on the water and opening/closing multiple times.

I always pre make my jigs at home prior to my trip and I’ve never had one of the bottles dry shut on me.

Once I started pre making my jigs I cut back on buying hooks and plastics. Each bait depending on the brand caught up to 5x more fish per and usually was only lost due to snags or break offs.

I guess a con to it is having to retie when you want to change the color out but if you can tie a knot quick it’s worth it.
