Unique Winter Colors
I picked my brother up today and took him to a Wildlife Management Area (WMA) that has a shooting range and a (PFA) Public Fishing Area .
We shot a few rimfire handguns for a couple hours, the I got to fish for about 30 minutes without any expectations of catching anything .
My fun guns today was , a 4” Barrel Ruger Mark II 22/45 , a Ruger SR22 , a Ruger Single Nine , and a Ruger Single Six Bisley .
The Single action Revolvers were my favorites.
For the Fishing :
I used a Major Craft Finetail Glass Trekking rod paired with a Shimano Soare bb500spg and 2# P-line CXX moss green line .
Lure was a 4.6mm Tungsten jig with a mini trout magnet .
After a few casts around the dock area , I got to thinking about what water might warm the quickest with the 72 degree high temperature today , and decided to try the small catfish pond ( maybe an acre) that connects by a large diameter underground PVC pipe to the lake of about 200 acres .
In about fifteen minutes I caught three cold bluegills that looked washed out . Still pretty IMO .
Wished I had more time to fish , but the ride home was over two hours .
I almost skipped the fishing altogether because of the low night temps lately .
Glad I didn’t

A good trip in good company, win win. Wish my bro was closer, sounds like a fun time.

we see a bit of that here as well , with some light purple hues .....seems the smaller ones are that way mostly in these parts ....
under about 6 inches ours tend to go extra pale and even translucent looking , might be a winter camo thing ?

Can't go wrong with purple imo. One of the most productive bass lures ever is a Zoom Junebug Utale worm t rigged with an 1/8 oz bullet weight. I prefer to throw lures that have at least some purple in them. My pb largemouth bass came on a Rapala purple glass shad rap. Twas a new spot in late January, had never been before, was just testing lures. Cast out and was SLOWLY reeling in, I mean so slow the crankbait was barely wiggling. Next thing I know Im snagged, but then the line starts moving sideways. I then say, that's a fish!! Caught on a 5' 6" zebco slingshot with 8 lb test
