In March I just about cut the pad off my thumb. Was a gruesome site for me and has left me with a problem. My thumb pad gets REALLY COLD quickly even on a cool day.
Anyone have suggestions for a cover, pad, glove for just the thumb or anything to help keep it warm?
I'd post a picture from when I did it but don't want to be too gruesome.
Needless to say the thumb has made tying anything from a hook to jigs and flies really difficult. Has been a long and frustrating 9 months.
Man that sucks and I feel your pain. I’m only 48 years old and have been living with ulcerative colitis since 2006 and have been on every biological drug for it. Currently not any. My problem is they think I have developed rheumatoid arthritis. The pain in my fingers, hands and arms have made making jigheads and tying jigs impossible at times. I’ve had to train myself ways making jigheads and tying jigs differently as I quickly develop pains in my fingers and hands simply by holding a jig.
You might look into a glove used for bowling. Might take a little modification but ya gotta start somewhere. Good luck with it.
Get a USB rechargeable hand warmer and place it inside a muff. Slide your hand in whenever you need to warm it up.

I like the handwarmers and will give them a try. Gotta get gloves though because the cold pain is instant when it's really cold outside for some damn reason. Have problems with cold since they tried to treat my tremors with anti-seizure meds and screwed things up.
Cutting my thumb just made it 10x worse for that area. 11 stitches and only a 1 cm piece holding the flap on. Almost wish I cut it off completely, almost..... Really glad I didn't.

I also have the rechargable hand warmers as my hands get cold easily and suggest you give them a try. I also wonder if you used a latex finger cot if it would protect your digit from direct contact with the wind/cold. Hope you find a solution.
