I always took a pair of smooth jawed craft pliers and flattened some ball head jigs. You can get the pliers in the craft section at wallmart, or can find them in the jewelry making section of a Hobby Store. Cost around $5.00.
If you are looking for a mold to pour your own jigs then I would suggest looking at a Do it Freestyle jig mold. It has both sizes and has a slot for wire keepers for soft plastics or leave them out.
My buddy just takes a hammer and gives each side a slight tap. Works great for him! I have tried it also and it does work.
l have a pair of extra long needle nose pliers I got from Harbor Freight that have smooth jaws. I use them to flatten regular round head jigs.
Some good advice here.
I use a machine vise from my drill press that had smooth jaws. What I liked was consistency by turning the handle to the same place each time.
I use a pill head mold and cut the collar off....
I do the same as Skeet Bum with drill press . I use the reversed drill bit larger than the ball.
