Pistol grip ultralight rod

Looking for recommendations for a 5’ or 5.5’ BFS pistol grip rod. Doesn’t have to be a “BFS”, just something in the ultralight realm. Thanks

That looks like a pretty good BFS reel. All my ultra light gear is spinning tackle. My bait casting stuff is all old school round spool Ambassador stuff set up for bass fishing. Maybe at some point I'll give this BFS stuff a try. Let us know what you wind up with.

My first baitcaster was an Abu Garcia 6500C I bought in the summer of 1977 with my graduation money. I still have it and use it now and then. I’m just an old geezer learning new tricks. The reel I listed above is supposed to be about the best of the cheapies. I think I found a glass rod with a fairly short straight handle to go with it. I don’t like the new style of long skinny handles with a little blob of cork at the end. Way back when I got the 6500C I had it on an underpowered Berkley glass rod and I could throw a Johnson silver minnow a mile.

Majorcraft Finetail Stream 4'10" UL. 5 inch straight grip, but it has a slight downward angle like a pistol grip. I have the fiberglass model and like it a lot. Very comfortable to cast. You can find old school pistol grip rods on ebay, but probably not UL.

I have two 5000's and a 6500 that I have had for at least 30 years. But i haven't used them for at least 10 years. I love mu UL spinning outfits. I may think about trying a setup with that reel you have. Maybe I will put it pn my Christmas wish list. My kids are always bugging me for ideas.

I love the spinning models of that rod .
Have given some thought to ordering a casting version and giving BFS another try .
I need to find a gill lure that I could cast with it .
Most of my jigs are tiny .
Thinking about a Beetlespin type lure that weighs 1/16oz or heavier. 1/16 is about my minimum with BFS , and that’s on a good day . :)
