I’ve got several trees with low hanging branches I’m thinking about cutting so it will be easier to fish around them
Don’t do it , for some reason trees with the low limbs are where I find most of the spawning crappie., they like shade and if the limbs go down into the water it attracts bait fish.
Also, a lot of lakes it’s illegal to cut limbs or trees

I think overhead cover helps protect spawners .
several years ago my pop was fishing and found a bunch under some low limbs. when they hit the hole under the limbs they caught a nice one but they kept getting snagged on the limb. They cut it to make it easier to gcst into the sweet spot Never got another bite. that limb was important.
