Most likely my last trip to the Town Pond this morning until the water cools off and clears up or we get another good rain .
Warm and sunny days in the 80’s are growing scum in the pond again .
The water has turned a dark brown with a scum on the surface surrounding the banks .
Depending on wind direction, one side is worse than the other .
The scum turned my light gray Daiwa J-Braid brown . ( sounds like a country song :) . )
I took another six footer today , my TFO T&P II UL ( the new model) paired with a KastKing Zephyr SFS 1000 UL reel , also the newest model .
When I started fishing a 4.6mm tungsten jig with a size 8 jighook , but missed four fish in a row . And had one come unhooked .
Switched to a jig tied on a size 10 Eagle Claw Lil Nasty sickle hook and only lost one fish the rest of the trip .
I fished just over an hour an a half and caught eight .
Four bluegills and four shellcrackers .
The TFO Trout and Panfish II rod worked great . I actually like it better than the St Croix Panfish I used yesterday. More sensitive and has a better bend with a fish on . You can feel every tail swish.
And the new model SFS KastKing did great too , although I prefer a felt drag , the carbon fiber drag washer did good and sounded neat with a nice fish on . At 5.3oz , it’s a nice lightweight reel .
I’ll be watching for another deal on these and pickup another . I got this one for 20% off about a month ago .
Tomorrow I’ll be headed to the shooting range with my brother and hope to get in at least an hour worth of fishing when we’re done at the range .
