Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Bay/Creek
I fished Limestone today from daylight till about 1PM. The water was 68 at daylight and had warmed to 72 by the time I left. The water is actually clearer in the pits than the main creek and there's basically no flow with the water down about a foot from summer pool. Best bait was Chartreuse about 18 inches under a bobber anywhere there was an overhanging tree branch to create a little shade. Fish were slow, but I returned a couple dozen shorts and kept 6 the size I like to eat. I also retuned 5 larger Crappie. Returned numerous Gills, bass and catfish. Beautiful day, just a little slow on keeper fish. No shade schools yet so another 10 degrees and the shade will move in with the fish following, still a little early.
