9/19/2024 Hurricane Aftermath Makes for Tough Day On Da Bayou
Hadn't fished the bayou for 17 days due to several honey do items, food plot tilling and hurricane issues. Decided to try today so my Bride and I launched at Main St. at 7:30 to beat the heat. The water was high at the launch and had to walk in water to get to the wharf. Water temp was 81 F very dirty and falling like a rock. Ran south due to falling tide and dirty water but that didn't help. There was trash, benches, lawn furniture, and lord what else floating down the bayou everywhere. Tough conditions and never could find the schools of shad so never found schools of Sacalait. Ended up with 6 nice ones for dinner but really tough day.
The bright side is my Bride and I saw some beautiful sights. The sun peaking over the cypress trees when we launched made the trip worth while. My Bride DID CATCH the biggest fish today and it was amazing watching it turn up when it saw her jig. I told her hang on and KABOOM!! THAT MAGICAL THUMP and the tug on the the end of the line. If heaven is anything like that I am ready.
Bon Temps!!
