What do you think?
I currently have a minnkota fortrex 80# 45 inch shaft.
I’m looking to upgrade to a newer motor. Not looking for any of the functions used for trolling so I pilot etc.
I’ve fished Minnkota all my life so I don’t think I want a Lowrance motor. Looking at the lower range price of the product lines.
What do you think?
Minnkota Ultrex older model
Minnkota Ultrex Quest
Garmin Force
I know the last two are brushless vs the original Ultrex which makes them a little quieter.
I need to stay with a 24 volt system so I think that will be 80# or 90#
Mounting on a ranger RT198 so need a 45” shaft.

I wouldn't consider a new trolling motor that isn't brushless. Last year I replaced my 80# Fortrex with a new Ghost (I run Lowrance electronics) and love it. Absolutely no more TM interference on my depth finders, the Ghost draws less amps than the fortrex and makes 17 more pounds of thrust on the same voltage. Another plus is the batteries last much longer, since buying the Ghost I haven't run them down in a day's fishing.

I run it on 24v and it does great on my 20’ Phoenix!

Have a Terrova now, but my next one will probably be a Garmin Force Kraken. Big step up, I know!

I've always been loyal to Minn Kota personally. Owned a 24v/80# Ultrex since they came out in 2017, not an issue from day one besides replacing a remote a couple years ago.
When I bought a pontoon earlier this summer I put a 36v/112# regular Ultrex on it. The $700 savings over the quest paid for 3 new batteries and a quick release bracket.
Those brushless are nice, and I hear do conserve battery life. My thought's over Ultrex over Garmin is how much do you use a foot pedal? That cable steer is pretty hard to top. Never used Garmin wireless but would think there would be a bit of a delay.. dunno. Everyone I know who likes a foot pedal with I pilot swears by Ultrex in these part's. Plus I like HB units for mapping and side image.
