I've seen schools of fish on my fishfinder alot. Question is: what are they? Is it worth buying a camera that might show what they are, whether baitfish or crappie or some other species that school? All I knowi is that - they don'e bite anything I cast even when worked vertically.
One would definitely know what they are if you drop a camera on them!
a lot of folks use them to take the guess work out it!
If I get one, I'll report what I see plus photos.
Probably be pretty handy if you wanted to do some treasure hunting around swimming holes and docks too...
Tried one several years back . Water needs to be real clear . Was not much help but ours was less than $500.
Most of the local lakes I fish are less than 20' and the algae is worse if there are no pads.
Murky on top and mid depth allow only the bottom to be seen.
I’ve got an Aqua-vu AV715C I use ice fishing and occasionally in the boat. Ice fishing it is easy use becuase your stationary,boat fishing little harder wind waves the boat moving ect. In the boat I can plug mine into my Lowrance 12 and view on the screen,most every lake up here has Zebs so the water is Gin clear and still the camera is limited to about 5-6 feet.
I bought a aqua view several years ago.. I personally wouldn’t recommend one.. unless your lake is crystal clear..
