Shoot Fire!
If you know you know. Lake Poinsett is a “Shoot Fire” kind of place. I’ve made 3 trips up and caught a ton of fish each trip. And these are not spawning fish. I can only imagine what it will be like up there next spring. I took 4 rods with me and fished all of them. Some spooled up with Ester and some with 3# test Varivas Twitch Master. Used a 67 Slow Taper Special, 62 Diplomat Extreme, Palms Egeria, and 63 TenRyu Lunakia. It was very windy but found a little protection from it. Used a 1.5 gram Daiwa Gekkabijin SS jig head and really should have gone to a 2 gram with the wind being as it was. Caught shell cracker and bluegill. I have no clue what these fish have to eat in this lake but sure are thick, fat fish. Didn’t get on the lake until about 1:30 and pulled out at 4:30. Wife and I went over to the picnic area and had a nice supper she had packed in the cooler. It was a fantastic 2 days of non stop action and can’t wait to get back. Hot weather will return in a few days.

Sounds like a very enjoyable trip for you and the wife. My next trip out I have to go and find some more fish. My other spots didn’t hold what I thought they should for one reason or another. Also nice to have the time to get away and enjoy things like this. Good Job Randy!
