Nothin' but 8-9 inchers!!

But they were bluegill, so it was :Fire!

Went out to Guy B. Park with my son. Hit the water just before sun up and the swirls at the top of the water were too many to count as we went stealth mode around that tiny lake.

Two crappie, but I couldn't get mine in the boat. Nick got his in, tho.

Heck, even the LMB were 8-9"!! Lol!

By 7:30a, it was about over, but we stayed out there another 3 hours just to make sure. We caught a few in there, but they got smaller and fewer. Got to be too hot and too boring to stick around so we went home.

No pics, tho. You can b!+(# about it below if you want! (I'm doing good just to post a report!!) :Rofl

Oh...speaking of which...Nick outfished me by a LOT.

Just like crappie. Brim (bream?) family.
Up north they eat the crap out of “sunnies”. 3” is a whopper, not sure how they clean em that small.

My guess is gut and scale them. I think that's how a lot like them anyway? I've never done it with crappie well since I was a kid so don't really remember. Once I learned to fillet there was no turning back.

The way I was taught was to use a fillet knife down along the back spine until you hit the ribs and cut up over the top of them, staying close to the rib cage. More like surgery. And this was before electric knives existed.

I think that makes sense if you're cleaning small ones, cuz you need as much meat off them as you can get! But anymore, I just clean 'em like I do crappie. Fast n' easy. Probably wastes more, but....whatev's.

I was kicking myself for not bringing some kinda topwater poppers or something, but I guess I never imagined that would be the pattern?

Tried worms under a bobber but that was so slow. Resorted to pulling shallow running cranks. Much more action much faster and covered more water.
