lb. for lb. or less
it is often said that lb for lb or much less than a lb.
that a sunfish would be the best of the best in a fish fight .
not sure if that is true , but to be very sure some of them pull extra hard .
the one hybrid version was a total train on light tackle and the straight runs as well ....
good times on a small jig and light tackle for sure :highfive

Good catches. I like how aggressive they hit the bait sometimes and they definitely fight hard.

Nice catch.....that fighting spirit is what kept me out in the heat today.

They are a very worthwhile opponent on the right tackle! As Ketchn said, pound for pound some of the toughest guys on the block. Imagine if they could scale up to 5-10 lbs. They would absolutely tear tackle up!

I agree that the sunnies/bluegills/pumpkinseeds are the best fighters. I took a trip on Saturday night to the pond & nearly lost a pole overboard on the strike while trolling, 3 times. Each time was a bluegill of average size but they were literally pulling the rod out of the boat when I grabbed them; I was lucky not to lose them.
Once I got pole in hand I thought I had a bragging fish on and up pops about a 6" bluegill. Amazing little fighters. Hate the line twist they put on my gear but do like the fight.

I think the "lb for lb" reference is the gospel truth. I have caught a 1lb bass and a 1lb 'gill and the fight from each fish was very different :Rofl
