7/22/2024 What A Difference A week of Rain Makes On Bayou Lacombe
Last week before the rain we had a TOP SHELF day as ROJO puts it. One week later after we got several days of rain the bayou was totally different. The water was no longer the color of clear iced tea but looked a lot like the Pearl. Muddy with lots of debris like leaves, limbs and floating vegetation. However we searched until we found a few and it came as no surprise that once we found the clouds of shad we found a few slabs. Kept 10 with the majority over
10 1/2 inches and a couple 12". All thick health blacks. Austin cleaned my clock today. I helped by removing the tacos so he could land the slabs. Water temp was a chilly 82 F after last weeks 90 plus water temps. 3 different
Wild Life and Fisheries agent boats launched at Main St. when we launched at 9 AM but they headed south in a hurry. Only saw 2 other fisherman and they agreed the full moon and the dingy water had messed up the fishing.
All fish caught on a 1/132 oz jig with BG Baby Shad. Various colors used because I cleaned out a small tackle box tray and am trying to not waste them. They seemed to like the tuxedo black and white and the silver shad ones the best although we did catch a few on bright orange. Austin even caught 3 or 4 on a horse head jig shooting a dock.
