weekly pit stop .....

dropped in for another reduction episode , nothing much changed , fish were VERY shallow in the shade under the dock , about 2 foot down in 12 foot of water ...
slack line was the rule of thumb ....
reduced the fish in there to 45 less and let anything larger go and kept only what was the average size .....10 inchers lately ....
the really small 5 to 7 inch range are in low numbers , they went free as well
sunfish and bass went free too....
hit it for about 2 hours , some of that part was cleaning them on the dock .
seemed to like brighter colors and curly tails worked best ....
had to be moving SLOWLY or they wouldn't touch it ....
just the weekly report from my buds crappie lake I hit ....
I could blame the success rate on my choice of apparel, but it might or might not be what caused them to bite , my less than scientific studies will continue ....rotfl

I think that maybe way back when there were some black crappie in there maybe , some look a bit too colored up and pixelated to be straight run to me ….
But one thing for certain after years of inbreeding who knows for sure , them fish been in that lake a very long time with no outside stockings anytime recently ….
One of my buds said it must be crystal clear in there and that is for sure quite the opposite of the water clarity , you would think as turbid as the water remains in there year round , they would be all pale and washed out looking color wise …. Go figure :dono
They even seem to have a bit of spawn colors year round and lots of variable patterns too and when it is time to spawn they don’t get really dark dark either ….seem to stay about the same year round in there basically…:scratchhead

Count the hard dorsal fin spines .... Whites have 5-6 Blacks have 7-8 .... Hybrid Cross would look like a White in shape with slightly off coloration patterns, but have the 7-8 dorsal spines of a Black.

have heard that many times , but this is something to consider when trying to evaluate if a fish is hybridized .
it would seem very likely to me that if hybridization occurred many many moons ago and was left to do its own thing and it only happened in a small degree way back when, then eventually some of those defining features might go back to where they began .
10 or 15 generations back might have been when it happened and after that the majority ruled and the defining characteristics of hybridization were simply put , "watered" down if you will ....
percentages on hybridizations are really interesting ,in plants and animals when this occurs , the offspring of said unions can have 99% of one of the parent's attributes and 1% of the other and vice versa and all points in between.
a hybrid offspring could look essentially totally one way or the other or a 50 50 thing and then on and on goes the mix of what might be the outcome of these types of events .
all the new dna findings these days indicate this if you follow them , many people have dna in them that suggests their lineage is NOT what they thought it was :yikes
skin color and markings do not always tell the tale and or the amount of dorsal spines, along with the body shapes and mouth sizes and etc etc etc .......
of course lil ole me is pretty clueless in many cases and then again sometimes not so much :Rofl
