Missed my short rods this morning
I fished for about thirty minutes this morning at the pond I visited a few days ago .
The one that’s surround by trees with overhanging limbs .
Today I took one of my 6’3” Abu Garcia MB3 rods paired up with an older Shimano Sahara 500fe and 2# Floroclear.
I fished the dock for a few minutes until I overheard a couple with two small children, say left go look at the turtles off the dock .
Exit , stage left . :) .
It wasn’t until I started making my way around the pond where I started missing my shorter rods .
With the longer rod , I quickly ran into issues even when trying a side arm cast . Just too much vegetation around.
I tried to bow and arrow shoot a cast and the MB3 just didn’t shoot like the 4’10” Major Craft Finetail glass rod did the other day .
Truthfully, my casts off the dock weren’t any farther than my casts with the shorter rod .
Back when most of fishing was done in areas void of obstacles, the longer rod was fine and I enjoyed fighting fish of all sizes on them .
Guess that’s why they make em all lengths .
I managed to catch two pretty gills .
Had a lot of followers. I’m going to need to come up with a bait that will trigger them into biting .
Lots of hikers and picnickers, just like the last time .
The hikers don’t bother me , they’re usually quiet and just pass by , probably afraid I’m going to snag them :) .
