I fish a pond this morning, I knew was there but the park is usually busy , especially with little kids and today was no different. I just felt a little more tolerant today .
I waited until after noon because of the threat of thunderstorms . We were spared with just a few sprinkles.
The pond is about 3-5 acres . Pretty clear . I could see bluegills all around the pond .
Short rods were the ticket , with all of the overhanging limbs all around the pond .
Over half of my casts were sidearm or bow and arrow casts .
I took one of my 4’10” Major Craft Finetail UL Glass rods and a 5’ Daiwa Trout X XUL , both were paired with Shimano Soare bb500spg reels with 500 Shimano Nasci spools on them and 2# Floroclear .
I fished of a little T shaped dock for about 30 minutes , using a 1” Black curly tail . Caught a couple , but had a lot of followers.
I switched over to a rabbit fur tail handtie and started picking up more takers .
The simple , little streamer jig is made using a size 12 streamer hook , chenille body , rabbit fur tail and a 3mm tungsten bead . They weigh a little over a quarter gram and I can get off about 25’ cast overhead , and 18-20’ bow and arrow casting .
I caught a small redbreast , three small bass , and 22 gills of various size .
A good couple hours IMO.
There’s a nice creek downhill from the pond , I’ve fished a few years ago that I didn’t have time to try today .
Pictures of the pond in this post . Fish in a post following .
That picture of the dock with was taken about twenty minutes after I left it . :)
It’s a pretty little pond . Although it got crowded, no one bothered me once I left the dock .
