Lunakia Mudfish?
I had a bad time Friday night and wound up in the ER for five hours. Back home after so it’s not terrible but not great either. Seems that I have a 4mm kidney stone on my left side. They get your attention. They knocked down the pain and knocked me down with some pain meds. It’s small and still up high and needs to drop down before I can pass it. Yippee. All that said, here started another fishless weekend. Most of Saturday was spent sleeping and getting the after effects of the pain meds out of my system and no further issues with the stone. Today I’ve felt good and told my Queen that I was going to mow the grass and if I felt good I was going to go to my office for a while. Turns out, that plan worked. Spent a couple of hours pitching my tiny jigs and got enough to have a good time and meet some pretty fish. Mixed bag was what I got and nothing big except for the last one. A bit breezy but not so bad that I couldn’t cast. I felt like a guy throwing bags of peanuts at the ball park in the cheap seats with a curve to hit the target. I’ll spare you the play by play but the first fish made me smile, the rest were just the gravy. A very good short trip and to finish off a good size mudfish grabbed my little jig and didn’t want to give it back. They stay in the net and I took my pliers and opened his mouth. The Lunakia is a light action and feels delicate but it handled the mudfish without any issue. I was impressed. Couldn’t see anything but the line going deep and out of sight. Being gill hooked and bleeding I broke the leader and wished him the best and over the side he went. As ruthless as they are I’m sure he’ll be fine. Here’s the pics and I hope y’all get out soon

Hate to hear about the kidney stone. Glad you got out and caught some. Some nice catches, love the colors.

Pretty fish. I wouldn’t wish a kidney stone on the devil. Before our move to Arkansas I passed a 5mm stone. During those 12 hours in the hospital I was calling on the Lord to take me home. After it passed I thought ok it’s over. Well the doc told me I had two more. One 2mm and the other 4mm. Says I’ll pass them in the next 1-3 years. For me once it moved to the bladder my pain was over. I hope and pray you only have the one.

Glad you survived and were able to get out to play a little.
Liked them all but especially the warmouth.

Those fish are so dark. Amazing. We rarely return dogfish/grindle/mudfish because they are so predatory. They reproduce like crazy and stay with the little ones which helps their survival.. Fun to catch though.

Alphahawk, just one to my knowledge. 4 mm and still high. I don’t know when it will travel but the pain I had was at least 7, probably 8 out of 10. The gall bladder was worse but neither was fun. I dislike the after effects of the pain meds but I did get some sleep. My wife kept telling me to stop scuffing my feet on the way out of the hospital. I was doing good to be upright and motivating. Got in about 4am and slept til 2pm. And I agree, I don’t wish them on anyone.
MCG, a good point about not returning them. I’ve gotten some large ones back there. They’re brutes.
