Kayak Trip Report, Brahan Spring Park

I gave Brahan Springs a try today, no Crappie only a few bass and gills. I fished it once 8 or 10 years ago and caught several Crappie so maybe a few bad spawns or they simply weren't biting. I found schools of baitfish with larger fish underneath which is a classic sign of Crappie on the fish finder, but no takers. The water is only 3 1/2 to 4 feet deep at the deepest and there's no brush or cover so if there are Crappie, they probably just follow the baitfish feeding. I'll wait until late July or August and give it another try. The Shad and Gill fry should be a little bigger by then reducing the amount of easy food they have to eat.
