Memorial Day trout trip salvaged
I decided to target trout this Memorial Day. Woke up early with high hopes only to find the stream running the highest I have ever seen and the color of chocolate milk. The forecast showed some rain, but it from what I saw it had been raining pretty hard upstream. Made a few casts and decided it head on back home. Halfway home I decided to stop at the local lake (out of desperation). Typically I carry XUL or UL rods for panfish but for trout I prefer L or UL bfs tackle. Had the latter today. Next issues was that I had no jigs, only spinner and minnow plugs. I was happy to find a 1 gram jig head with a nikko wax worm on it and a 1/10 oz zman jig with shad fryz. The former made sure I caught fish today, else I was pretty sure I’d be back home empty handed. Ended up with a couple of shell crackers. Lot of fun on the glass rod.

Saved the day! Varivas bait finesse 0.6 PE. On spinning gear I would have used 2.3 lb or 1.75 lb ester.

Certainly! I would be very blue had I got skunked. And, you are welcome!
