I Remember- Daily

Memorial Day, A Day of remembrance. I do not celebrate this day. I remember. No party, no fishing, no celebration. No judgments on those who do. It is my way.
I shed a tear for those gone before in service to our country. This is my way.
I shed a tear for the loved ones left behind. This is my way.
I pray for those who serve today. This is my way.
I pray for those who have forgotten why. This is my way.

Stones

Pretty stones in a row one by one
Fathers, mothers, sisters, son
Days of sun, nights of rain
Long forgotten the throes of pain

Their service done, succumbed to fate
Many there soon, some more late
Stones stand there silent, tall
Symbols of lives by those who fall

Fast we go past these forgotten souls
Giving not a thought whose stones are those
Days past more stones do stand
As more souls gather hand in hand

Just take a moment to pause and see
Give some thanks, a tear for these
Remember the stones there one by one,
Fathers, Mothers, Sisters, Sons

I agree Mstr Dan. Thank you. No "Happy Memorial Day" from me as well. Yes, a day of remembrance. Not a time to thank veterans, and post such - that's another day. Not today.
