new boat recommendations
I am looking at new aluminium boats. I don't have to get one but I figure since I am 60, this will probably be my last boat. I am looking at the Lowe 195 and 188 and the Ranger 188. Ranger 178 could also be a consideration. I fish mostly the Tennessee river from Pickwick Dam to about the interstate and do venture to Pickwick lake to night fish. Was wondering about the listed models, good and bad. I currently have a 2011 Wareagle 754 vs stick steer but have some back and neck issues and chop on the lake is pretty painful. I just need a little softer ride and speed isn't really a concern.Sorry if this is the wrong area to post.

Heavier boats certainly ride better with in reason. Also the closer the seats are to the stern has a more gentle ride in my opinion. I like an aluminum for low maintenance. But it sure is hard to beat the ride of a heavy glass boat. Just like the big heavy cars of years gone by. They ride nice

Longer and heavier should ride better.

I have the Triton 18x, which is the same boat as Ranger188. I put a 90 hp on it instead of the 60 most of them come with. I have had it for 7years and no complaints

Love my Lowe st175, got the Camo.
Has been a very durable finish, like the two live wells in a small boat. Nice and wide.
i did the same thing, buying it before I retired. Its easy to launch sole.
Good luck with your purchase

Check out the Excel Boats line of Bay Pro boats built in Union City, Tn. They may are sold at 1-69 Marine and many other dealers. I’ll put my new Bay Pro 230 Elite up against anybody’s boat. I recently had a Pro Staffer from a rival brand tell me if he had to pay retail for a boat, he would own one just like mine!

Thanks for the comments. Ordered a Lowe 195B with a 115 proxs on it. Has an Ultrex trolling motor. Hopefully it will fit my needs.
