I thinking of gluing my 1” curly tails onto my tungsten jigheads .
They seem to get pulled down the hook more than trout magnets do .
Thinking of wrapping the shank with tying thread and adding a drop of super glue before slipping the body on the hook .
Anybody do this ?
Looking for suggestions for super glue brands to use .
Is this something that be done just before fishing or should I make up a few before I go fishing ?
I do. Especially the jigs that have no barb/bait keeper on them. I have a buddy that wraps his with unscented unwaxed dental floss then glues the jigs to that. He is retired and has a triple axle load of free time lol.
I use just whatever super glue I have around. Here lately always seem to be some Loc-Tite brand.
I glue them up at home. I used to do it in the boat, then one day I learned a rouge wave and an open tube of super glue in a boat can lead to a bad dang day.
I’ve done it before too. I prefer the super glue gel. Richard Gene the fishing machine does the dental floss trick. You could wrap a base of thread if you want first on the hook shank but usually I push the bait on far enough it glues to the head some too. It’s on really good.
All the time. Thats how i keep tube jigs on heads as well when they start slipping. Loctite gel super glue

Just remember, super glue will keep the front of your plastic tight to your jig head, but the back part still gets nipped and shredded.I would only do the minimum to hold the plastic on.
I use many methods. Super glue works good and even better when it has even a light thread base to adhere to. I have used a thread bump on the shank as well that works well with my Itty bitty slab slayer but is a bit much for the swimmers, they do better with just glue. I also have some. That deepfry made me with a light leader wire keeper akin to what the Japanese use and that works excellent. They’re tedious to do but there’s little better. The lightest leader wire you can find works fine. Double it over and add the kink to keep it off the shank a bit and tie it toe shank in your tying vise, then add some Sally’s or up resin if you like. Super glue would also work. The tiny baits and a straight shank is about the best with super glue gel. Not much of the glue holds the shank but the glue to the head is pretty tough if done ahead of time and let dry completely.
Super glue is a must for me. Bait keepers/barbs ruin plastics faster than fish do most the time. If the jigheads you use have one, you'll probably get more life out of your plastics by clipping it off and gluing the plastic on. Simple trout magnet or stinger style baits that don't have a super soft tail for bluegill to rip off will last a lot longer on average when glued than when jammed onto a bait keeper. I use whatever gel type super glue the store sells when I go to the store. The watery type works fine too but unless you really wanna ruin your clothes while you're out fishing, I'd go for the gel lol
