First outing of season, skunked

With the good weather the last two days I had hopes that the crappie might be up in the channels near home so prepped the boat and burned a vacation day today.

There were loads of bass, a few pike and schools of undersized crappie & gills. The local shop doesn't have minnows yet so I tried plastics. Only a couple of throwback crappie. Made a couple of trolling passes for pike, no takers.

Cooler weather ahead for the duration of the coming two week forecast so it'll be a good time to get more dog work in.

A poor day of fishing still beats the best day I've ever had at work[emoji846]

Good to hear you got out... Won't be long and it will be game on...Spartys spot usually is one of the first to go in our area and it sounded like he did well after a little sun.. Hoping they turn on at the right time for camp!
