There tends to be wolves and sheep in the society we live in, the sheep far outnumber the wolves as you might have imagined.
this subject in turn reminds me every year of the sheep , the sheep are typically those that have this idea that scientifically certain things are impossible.
While the wolves simply think it is all about the food chain and how it effects their next meal.
So here we go with my EVERY year tutorial on the silly notion that crappie will not spawn until water temperature hits a certain number scientist's say has to happen before the spawn is a success.
Lets take Canada as a first example of this subject , the water temperatures only reach a maximum in the late summer of around 64 to 65 , but yet there are herds of folks that say that is too cold for a decent spawn. The crappie in Cananda from what I have researched go to the beds at ice out when the water temperature is in the 40 range during the spring there . Yet they still survive every year and spawn ...
So here in lies the issue with the they can't or won't do this or that in the spring. Crappie from my observations only need a tiny window of time to do the deed and do it more than once in most places. In some spots we see a quick burst of shoreline fish for a day and then gone for weeks , then it happens again and then again as well in those same locations.
In this scenario the water temp. ranges vary greatly and yet this occurs EVERY year in those same locations . There is often a 25 degree or more difference in the water temps in those locations over a period of several months .
Remember this about that , those same sheep sit around EVERY year promoting the water is TOO cold for the crappie to rush the bank and those same folks EVERY year cry about a bad spawn and or they missed it .
Not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers here for sure , but to be just as sure, read what you want and think what you want , but in the end the sheep are not the best of predators ......nonono
I know I know , he never won no big awards or trophy and has no clue and is just some yeehaw thinking he knows this about that and in many of the sheep minds this is in fact factual .....:banghead:Rofl
nonetheless we have had 4 or 5 days or really nice sunshine and even though the water temps. are WAY to cold for a spawn according to the sheep, this afternoon lil ole wolf like me is going to look for some of those seasoned like me big ones that ain't going to wait for it to happen .....just saying
education time over , and as the loser quarter back would say ....
here we go .....:biggrin
p.s. on a final note , the male fish DO NOT have to be wearing a tux to the deed either ....
