Which knot are you using to tie the new Varivas PE+Ester hybrid line directly to a jig (without a leader)? Anybody tested the 9.6 lb. test line for knot strength? Comments appreciated.

I have used it a little bit with a Palomar. My nephew has also used it with double Palomar. That is mine and his go to line when fishing the D2 jigs for trout. We prefer though to use a FC leader. I have landed 18-19 inch fish with it and my nephew has landed uncountable trout in the 18-25 inch range using this line. It breaks at its rated strength. I have not done any knot tests with it.

I use the PE but have never used the ester line. I also never tie braid direct to any of my jigs as braid has very low abrasion resistance. Sandpaper teeth like a crappie and bass have will cut through small braid quick. I use a double uni knot to join the braid and leader. And the lure I use dictates what leader is used. Floating or close to surface or real shallow I’ll use mono as it floats better than flouro, and deeper presentation gets the flouro. Line shy also gets the flouro. Good luck with it all.
