How to set up boat for long lining?

I'm looking at this boat and trying to figure out if it will work for me. I currently have a similar shaped boat that is narrower and we long line one person out each side. In my current boat I have a millennium spiderlok at my feet at the stern. I'm thinking I could mount spyderloks where I have circled in the pictures. I'm hoping the rod holder at the stern will be high enough to clear the gun wale. Another option at the stern might be to mount some drift masters on the rod locker. It would be a little further away and I wouldn't be able to get to the rod as quick.Attachment 477525 Attachment 477526

When I troll I want my rods as close to the rear corner of my transom that I can get them. I fish some rivers a bit so times I am making sharp turns and having the rod tips out past the back of the boat makes this possible. with out tangling or dragging lines in to the motors

I would use two holders out the back and two out the front. I have mine set up this way and troll with 10 rods. 6 out the front and 4 out the back. Works great.

OK a dumb question, I miss a ton of fish holding one rod, I can't imagine watching 10. do the fish hook themselves or are you guys that quick to
see the bite and set the hook ?

Do ya'll have striper hybrids in your lakes ? I can see some terrific tangles pulling 10 baits thru a school of hybrids or white bass.

When long line trolling the fish pretty much hook themselves. Usually start out around 1mph and adjust from there.

We are allowed three rods per man in Indiana. I like to hold one rod in my hand so I can set the hook and watch the other two. My sweet spot trolling jigs is about .8.

Trolling Crappies I never set the hook the boat speed and rod do the work, a too stiff of a rod will rip the hooks out. My speed varies from 1mph - 3 1/2 mph.
