My first try at a tiny 1/64 oz jig. Left the head unpainted and used white marabou. Looks like a chicken fight happened in the shop again. Feathers floating around everywhere. :Rofl
Im really liking that Loon Hard Head stuff.

Certainly the smaller they get the harder they are to tie. There is a fly tier somewhere thinking man that is a huge tie

That'll work. Marabou "success" is largely dependent upon the quality and size of the quill. I've grown quite fond of the smaller stuff. I'll pluck the center stem out of the last half of it, and pull the remainder in a bundle towards where the tip used to be, and snip to size. I don't personally like trimming from the tips of the tendrils. That said, it drives me nuts using large flowy marabou quill. It takes forever (relatively speaking) to strip and gather enough off the quill for a jig.
Try wrapping it like you would a hackle but tie the tip in and wrap down. I had a hell of a time tying small flies and jigs until I tried it.
Try to use the best marabou you can for this. clean ends and good looking feathers are a lot easier to get a good clean wrap.
I learned this here but don't remember who recommended it otherwise I'd give them credit.
I found putting moisture on my fingers really help when dealing with marabou.
Love these tiny jigs. I tie them too.

Yep. I watched many. I’m more of a hands-on learner though. I can watch something 10 times, but until I attempt it with my own hands, things just don’t click. I learn best when doing something hands-on and someone is standing there telling me, “No, not like that… turn it this way…, etc…”
