Beavertail plastic baits
For those who use a plastic bait with a beaver tail , Do you rig the flat side of the tail like a beaver or the other way . In other words
do you want the profile to be bigger from the side or from the bottom ?
Or does it matter at all?
good luck

And a report, Saturday fished 10 am to 3:30 , 3 hybrid , 2 catfish , 25 keepers , one throwback. Brush piles 10-20 ft were best , most fish holding
near bottom , only caught few in the brush tops. Overcast , light breeze , Had the whole south end of Palestine to my self.

I don’t think it matters. Could be rigged either way. Probably typically rigged horizontally like a beaver. I’ve also seen guys cut out a “V” shape or legs into the tail section for a different look.

I have the mold for that bait and I have fished it both ways. I honestly don't think it makes a difference.

Thanks for the link to the old thread, looks like the majority fishes them flat, I had good success fishing them the other way last time out,
I will try rigging them the other way , and see if it makes a difference

i just heard from bonehead tackle,
Boneheads are made here in East Texas on hiway 155 just south of Tyler,
The gentleman there said that most people do rig them flat , but he feels that a vertical presentation works better, especially when
the fish are feeding on larger shad. He said the fish tend to hit them harder when fished this way. that was what I observed last time out,
the crappie really thumped them when pitched and slow retrieved close to the bottom.

PS the bonehead stump bugs have been good for me , in white chartreuse , black chartreuse and blue chartreuse ( which they call the Lake Palestine special)
