Shock leader ?

For those who fish some type of 2# mono , does anybody use a shock leader ?
After losing what seemed to be a nice fish yesterday that either wrapped me and broke me off or it had teeth and cut my 2# line , I got to thinking about using a six foot section of 4# Floroclear as a shock leader . May even try a 6# leader .
I’ll need to try both and see if it has any effect on jig action and casting .
I fish around rocks a good bit and I’m always checking and retying because of the sharp edges of the rocks .
Anybody have any suggestions?

I am very familiar with shock leaders. Used them extensively in surf fishing. Only we used them so we could cast for distance. Our main line was 15lb test which would not withstand power casting. So we would use a section of heavy line to withstand the force of the cast, then after the sinker was away, the lighter line would peel off the reel. Usually 8 wraps around the reel was enough.

Not sure you need a shock leader, as it would only serve to shorten your casts.

As I understand it, when you go super light in line strength, you just accept the issues that come with it. I can’t so I don’t.

I think a shock leader would reduce action and casting distance resulting in a decrease in number of fish caught. With 2# line you are going to lose some nice fish but you will get more strikes than you would using shock leaders or heavier line. If things go well you can catch giant fish on 2# when they do hit. This year I caught an 8# and 10# bass and a huge grass carp over 50# using 2# mono that I might not have even hooked with heavier line. 4# and 6# line look like rope to me and only use it when fishing strictly for bass or hybrids. I'd say try the shock leader, you can always cut it off.
