Fished Taylorsville several times this year. It’s loaded with fish, no doubt. Haven’t had a problem catching fish, they’re just all .25” shy of taking home. Anyone else like to chime in with your thoughts/experiences from this year? I have my own theories but curious to hear from others. Green has been somewhat similar as well….

I think when covid was in its prime and people did not have to go to a job for a while people stayed on the water fishing. IMO this has reduced the number of keeper sized fish in many lakes. I fish Green River and keeper fish are not as plentiful as they were a few years back. I think it will eventually cycle back and get better just take a little longer than we want it to.
Exactly the reason I haven't been to T-ville the last couple of years. You time it right in the Spring & you may get some nice sized fish, but unless you stay on them thru the rest of the year it seems you're hunting for ghosts.
But, in reality, back when the size limit was 9" you could catch a ton of 8.75" fish thru the day ... and if you were lucky, you might bring home a limit of "just over 9in" fish.
Not real sure what the reason is, but the upside of a ton of 9.75" fish at T-ville is .... they'll be keepers come next Spring.
I agree with you, I fish one of those two lakes weekly and just last week managed to find some nicer fish on taylorsville. The weather makes it a little challenging also. We are starting to get these cold fronts now and it seems they scatter at the slightest little thing. I don’t fish livescope so when they scatter I have to go looking old school and that takes up lots of time. It can only get better from here.Quote:

I fish Taylorsville about every week. Sometimes 2-3 times a week.
I have determined the keeper ratio is about 10-1.
I have only had a very few 15 fish limit in several years.
Never ever had any crappie I have had to net. Matter of fact haven’t caught a crappie at Taylorsville much if any over a pound.
Lots of pressure on the lake and personally think they should lower the size limit back down to 9 inches for a couple of years just to thin out the lake some. Maybe a slot limit like Rend.
I think the limit is 25 but you can only have 10 fish over 10 inches.
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

I will say as a guy who doesn’t get off taylorsville much
I don’t have any trouble catching 10” fish. I will say that this year I have caught a lot more sub legal
Fish than years past, but it was bound to happen at some point.

These all came from this year between 4/9-5/14. These fish are in here but I think the 10/1 dink:keeper ratio is definitely tipped in the wrong direction.
