It’s the “Davy” knot, in case somebody wants to search for it.
It gets its name from Davy Wotton who popularized it. It’s mostly used in fly fishing. (It’s small and works well with tiny hooks.)
Corrected….
I've never seen that before. Cool knot, easy to tie, I may have to try it...
Thanks!
It is a nifty knot and one I have used over the years. Just be certain to follow the instructions exactly or it will seperate. The reason for it’s popularity has nothing to do with it’s ease of tying. It is that it leaves a very small tag line, so very little waste. Which is important if you are using a fly line with a tippet. Each knot shortens it, so soon it is useless. I really liked it even though wasting line was not my concern. Thin little lines is best.

if you go to Alaska you can use 20 lb mono for a tippet and not worry about how much line you waste , kuz for sure you is gunna get your 20 lb tippet broke off over and over ......:Rofl
best take hardcore tackle with ya in them waters , the fish ketchn up there is BRUTAL , never seen a davy knot is me , but it aint what we used up that way on our fly rods , just a regular ole "fisherman's" knot and be ready to get beat up really well on the first strike .....
getting jerked almost out of your waders is a real thing up there , not kidding .....:Rofl
It is a good knot. I have found that the Lefty Kreh Non Slip Mono and Palomar get me thru just about everything. I think the non slip is the one Ketchn called the Fisherman’s Knot. Tied correctly (proper number of turns for pound test) it is extremely strong.
