Varivas new Absolute PE

Varivas has a new PE called absolute that replaced the dead or alive PE. I got the x4 in 0.4 and 0.6. Color is 1 meter dark 50 cm light green. Their website says it is an upgrade from the dead or alive. Line is thin + strong, 0.4 broke at 7.5 and 0.6 at 8.5. On a 500 vanford, you need 13 wraps of electrical tap to bring the 0.4 to the edge and 7 wraps for the 0.6. It also comes in 0.3, the x8 starts at 0.8 so the x4 is more for panfish.

While I have not used the Absolute I have some. No doubt Varivas lines are the best. Huge fan of the Twitch Master, ES 2 Lemoni, and the Double Cross PE.

The lines are a bit pricey but they do have sales especially around Christmas 40% off so I usually stock up then. As a side note, did you ever get a Breaden titanium tip Ul aging rod? Thanks

I'm thinking seriously about going back to mono on my casting rods but will keep braid on my long rods.

I did not. Been in the new house for 9 months and still spending money. But it is still on my list.

Kinda like the zenon reel you got, Amazon has them for around $200 + free shipping.

I use Varivas braid on most of my rods that I throw jigs with and I’m happy with all of it. The 4lb that I use on my 4’ Pfenix ultra light is the sweetest casting tiny rod I’ve ever owned. It wears a 1/64 more often than not. I’m gonna have to look up some of the absolute for the rod I just finished. Breaking strength is just about perfect range.

The one thing I like about varivas and other jp braids is the diameter is accurate or under stated. Unfortunately, US based lines are usually 2-3x thicker than stated. Case in point was the original seaguar smackdown 10 lb 0.128 mm braid which had a break at 9 lbs and as thin as PP 3 lb. They were so many complaints of break offs that seaguar upped the diameter to .205 mm for the 10 lb, they should have labeled the original as 3 lb braid.
