I have 2 of the lvs 32 systems. I normally fish an electric only lake so this is how I use them. One is mounted on the trolling motor shaft it stays In Forward mode. The second is on a pole with a ram mount that one is in perspective mode. I use it to search for fish then steer to where they are and get how deep they are with the forward one. It works fairly well. One problem is the ram mounted pole. I have the large ball and it will still move if I go to fast and ends up pointing down at an angle so it really isn't showing anything useful. Above 3 to 4 mph it starts moving.
If your going to have a pole mount in the water with the regular motor running I would think it is going to need to be pretty sturdy to handle the force of the water against it while moving.
