Another windy trip
Yup, it's a regular thing around here these days. Low humidity day but very breezy and I said to heck with it, I'm going anyway. We had rain in the forecast for today. A comfortable 82 at waters edge and surface water temps about 77 or so. I launched a few minutes before 5, with a steady wind from the NE.
I'd made up my mind on the way up that I was going to troll up the basin and let the wind push me back over that deep water and see if I could find some fish. I found lots of bait balls but sonar didn't show any larger marks anywhere near them and no bites were to be found; so much for that plan. Speed drifting might have worked for Rich and Walt but I don't get the results that they did.
I moved over toward the edge of the basin and followed the deeper contour out away from the weed line and finally picked up 2 nice bluegill, about 8" each.

Took me well over an hour to find these 2 and the wind I expected to fight all night began to ease off and by 6:30 I'd have flat water to fish for the rest of the evening.
I eased over to a favorite spot and began casting different lures trying to find something they'd hit. Fishing slow and fishing deep I finally fooled the first crappie.

A few casts later, a big hit and a tough fight before this one came to the surface.

Small lures will catch big fish.

I'd work that area until it got to be time to troll for home, landing a couple more single pole casting.

The trolling back to the beach would produce one each of another 'gill and crappie and I hit shore about 8:10.

Although not many fish were landed, I did enjoy the evening and will hopefully get in another trip this weekend.
