Reality Checked
Since my jig trolling lesson with vbottom and spartannation back in June I've been doing well most times out. Well enough that my wife and I can enjoy a crappie dinner without wondering when we'll be able to again. However, I've been fishing waters that I'm familiar with.
This morning I finally made the long drive to a lake that vbottom & spartannation do well on, but that I've never seen. While driving down the interstate and getting closer I could see flags blowing in the wind, from an east wind. Yuck!
Sure enough, there was a good little chop on the water. I tried all over and many places more than once to show them different colors but only scratched out 3 keepers.
I wish the weather had been on my side but I did learn the lay of a new lake.
To sooth my ego I hit a local lake this evening. All is good[emoji2]

I get more enjoyment out of fishing new waters and figuring them out than I do fishing the same ole same ole. But there's nothing like the same ole same ole to put fillets in the grease.

Good job. Keep at it and those unfamiliar waters will become familiar. Always will be those tougher days and sounds like you did ok for first trip there.

Wind out of the east, fish bite the least. Least that's what Gramps always said and I think for the most part I've found that true here in Michigan. Glad you got out and tried new water and learned a little about the lake!

At least you kept the skunk at bay. Glad you got some time on the water.

New waters and less than good conditions make for a tough day
