Best jig head?

I'm looking at making my own jig heads and need a jig head to start. Which style do you prefer? Post up a photo and why you like it.

Weedless .... Y shaped weed guard on ballhead jig - self explanatory (multi-fiber/brush style weed guard 2nd place choice)

Non-weedless ... ballhead jig - universal & can be "customized" with a pair of pliers. Tracks thru the water straight forward.

Weedless only for some. I fish mostly open water and stake beds, so no weed guards. Plain round heads hard to beat. With livescope heads only matter according to weight in my opinion. Weight is determined by jig size and method or depth you fish. I only use 1/8 or 1/4 oz. Takeum makes some beauties, but round , minnow head or plain ball heads all catch.

Are you gonna paint the heads or use them unpainted. A good answer is dependent on your answer.

I have had many of molds and have made many of styles over the last 10 years making baits from simple to complex. In the end they all do the same thing, catch fish. I use to use weedless all the time but only do now when cast and dragging through cover. Mostly use this style now. Do eyes matter, no but what I do. Mold came from Print a Lure and can be made with a wire keeper when wanting to use a plastic or no wire keeper when wanting to tie with. 1/16 and 1/8 are preferred sizes with size 4 up to size 2 Mustad Ultrapoint black chrome j hook but will go up to 1/4oz with size 1 if double dipping. I have many of threads over in the lure making forum as well as others do to it looking for more ideas.

I have almost every style, painted dozens of colors... And i always seem to tie on a 1/16 #4 round head barbed collar unpainted jig

Nice looking jig.
I'm a minnow fisherman and prefer bigger sized hooks. Thanks for the input. I'll check the other forum.

I never use painted heads. Plain lead is all I use and still catch a bunch (when I can find fish.)

Most important is variety when it comes to weight and hook size.
recs:
1/32 oz / hook sizes 8, 6, 4, 2, 1/0
1/24 oz / hook sizes 6, 4, 2
1/16 oz / hook sizes 6, 4, 2, 1, 1/0, 2/0, 3/0,
no barb for grub grip

Weights and hook size combos based on lure length, depth fished, speed of retrieve

example (wire grub grip added) - 1/24/ #4 hook
